How to Make a Origami Turtle
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. The word “origami” comes from the Japanese words “ori”, meaning “folding”, and “kami”, meaning “paper”. Origami turtle is one of the most popular origami models.
It is not too difficult to make an origami turtle. You can use any kind of square paper to make an origami turtle. If you use a colored paper, your origami turtle will be more beautiful.
- Start with a square sheet of paper, folding it in half diagonally and then unfolding it
- Fold the top two corners to meet at the center crease, making a triangle
- Flip the paper over and fold both side edges into the center line
- Now make two small folds on each side to create the turtle’s head and legs 5
- Finally, give your origami turtle a little push so that it stands up on its feet!

How to Make a Origami Turtle Step by Step With Pictures
It’s easy to make a turtle out of origami paper! Just follow these simple steps.
1. Start with a square sheet of origami paper, color side up.
Fold the paper in half diagonally to form a triangle. Unfold the triangle, then fold it in half again to create a smaller triangle.
2. Next, take the top corner of the triangle and fold it down to meet the bottom edge.
Then fold this flap up again, making sure that the crease is well-defined. This will be the turtle’s head and neck.
3. Now flip the entire piece over so that the head and neck are at the bottom left corner of the triangle (as shown in the photo).
Take the bottom right corner of the triangle and fold it up to meet the top edge, creating another triangular flap.
4. Flip this flap over so that its point is facing downwards, then tuck it underneath itself as shown in Step 4 of our Turtle Base instructions . This forms one of your turtle’s legs!
Repeat this step on the other side to create your second leg.
5a: For an easy version – 5b: For a more advanced version
5a) Finally, take each side of your turtle’s shell and fold them in towards the center, stopping when you reach about 1/3 from each edge (as shown by dotted lines in photo).
Once you’ve done this on both sides, your origami turtle is complete!
5b) To make a more advancedorigami turtle , do not stop when you reach 1/3 from each edge – instead continue folding until both sides meet in the middle (shown by red dotted line). Once you’ve done this on both sides, pinch alongthe red dotted line to give yourturtle some dimensionality , then open upthe model slightly so that he can stand on his own four legs .
Yourorigami turtle is now complete!
How Do You Fold a Turtle?
There are a few different ways that you can fold a turtle, depending on the size and shape of the turtle. The most common way to fold a turtle is to start with the head and neck, then fold the legs in so that they are touching the body. Once the legs are folded in, you can then tuck the head and neck inside of the shell.
Another way to fold a turtle is to start with all four legs extended outwards. Then, bring the two back legs together and tuck them underneath the front two legs. Next, fold in the head and neck so that they are touching the body.
Finally, tuck everything inside of the shell.
What is the Easiest Animal to Make Out of Origami?
Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. The word “origami” comes from the Japanese words “ori” (to fold) and “kami” (paper). Origami is traditionally done with a single sheet of square paper, without cutting or gluing.
There are many simple origami animals that can be made with just a few folds. The easiest animal to make is probably the crane. The crane is a symbol of good luck in Japan, and it is said that if you make 1000 cranes, your wish will come true.
Here are the steps to making a basic origami crane:
1. Start with a square piece of paper, colour side up. Fold the paper in half so that you have a rectangle.
2. Fold the top corner down to meet the bottom edge of the paper. Unfold, then repeat on the other side.
3. Now fold both sides in towards the centre crease, meeting in the middle.
Unfold, then repeat on the other side.
4a) For traditional cranes, tuck one corner underneath the other and staple or glue to secure – see photo 4b for an example of this step completed; OR 4b) For flying cranes (shown in photos 5-7), do not tuck corners under – instead, leave them sticking out as shown in photo 4c below:
5a) Traditional method: Once your bird base is complete, hold it so that the open end faces away from you and make 2 small mountain folds as shown below – these will form the bird’s head and tail; OR 5b) Flying method: Make 1 small mountain fold at each end as shown below – these will form wingtips for your crane:
6a) Traditional method: Flip your bird over so thatthe open end now faces towards you; OR 6b) Flying method: Keep yourbird standing upright as shown below:
How Do You Fold a Sea Turtle?
The specific way to fold a sea turtle origami style is actually quite easy once you know how. The first step is to start with a square sheet of paper. Then, fold the paper in half so that you have a crease running down the center of the paper.
Next, take the top two corners and bring them down so that they meet in the center crease. Once you have done this, your paper should look like a triangle.
Now it’s time to start folding the turtle’s shell.
Take the bottom corner of your triangle and make a small fold upwards about an inch or so. Then do the same thing on the other side. Once you have both sides folded up, turn your turtle over and repeat the process on the other side.
Now you should have something that looks like a turtle shell starting to take shape.
To finish off the turtle shell, simply tuck in each of the remaining corners on either side of your origami sea turtle. And that’s it!
How Ro Make an Origami Crane?
Origami cranes are a popular choice for origami enthusiasts of all skill levels. They are relatively easy to make, and can be very elegant when done well. Here are step-by-step instructions for how to make an origami crane:
1) Start with a square sheet of paper, folded in half diagonally to form a triangle. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half again the other way, creating a smaller triangle. 2) Fold the top corner of the triangle down to meet the bottom point, creating a narrow rectangle shape.
Then fold this rectangle in half lengthwise. 3)Take the top layer of paper only and fold it down so that its edge lines up with the crease you just made. Unfold this flap and then refold it at a slightly different angle, so that there is now a triangular pocket formed.
This pocket will be used later to insert your fingers and hold the crane together. 4) Next, using only the top layer of paper, make two small folds at the top corners of the rectangle, folding them in towards the center crease (these will be your crane’s “wings”). 5) Now we will start shaping the body of our crane.
Take hold of both sides of the rectangular shape and bring them together so that they meet in the middle; crease well and open back up again. Then take one side only and bring it over towards the other side until its edge lines up with the central crease; crease well and open back up again (this time you should have created two layers on one side of your rectangle). Repeat this process on the other side as well.
You should now have four equal sections formed by folds going from each corner towardsthe center (imagine four triangles coming together at their points). 6) Pick up your paper by holding onto two opposite sides nearthe center (you should still have four sections). Flip these sections upwards so that they stand on end – your paper should now resemble an upside down pyramid or diamond shape sitting ontopofa base (think about how apaper cupisformed).

In this blog post, the author shows readers how to make an origami turtle. They start by folding a square piece of paper in half diagonally to create a triangle. Then, they fold the bottom corner of the triangle up to meet the top point, and unfold.
Next, they fold each side of the triangle in towards the center line, and unfold. After that, they fold the bottom point up to meet the top point again, and unfold. Finally, they flip the paper over and repeat all of these steps on the other side.
Once both sides are complete, their origami turtle is finished!
